ABSTRACT

Adopt a Startup (AaS-Up), a Humane-Innovation-Sustainable-based Entrepreneurship (HIS-E) model, has been the link between entrepreneurship in the classroom and the "real world” while empowering under-represented startups and students. Research confirms that entrepreneurship and innovation have been recognized as critical drivers of sustainable economic development and competitive advantage. During the Pandemic, the HIS-E was one of the few programs that continued to assist the local startups and develop an entrepreneurial mindset. HIS-E maintained quality and innovative entrepreneurship education and community outreach by transitioning to a virtual platform of collaboration. Indeed, some of these quality entrepreneurship practice components include experiential learning, collaboration across disciplines, and the infusion of sustainability and innovation into the curriculum. Finally, I address important implications, challenges, and learning outcomes for stakeholders interested in replicating this Model to stimulate entrepreneurial activity. © 2022 International Council for Small Business.

ABSTRACT

This study relates the changes in the self-perception of teachers in the context of pandemic with the curricular needs suggested by the Chilean Ministry of Education. The objective was to analyze the objectives of the curricular prioritizations and the degree of self-assessment on the integration of technologies of teachers in pre-pandemic and pandemic contexts. The study was analytical, interpretative and comparative. A total of 178 teachers were selected, a TPACK questionnaire was applied to them in December 2020 and January 2021, and four subjects were selected for word clouds based on their prioritized objectives. Results were analyzed descriptively, comparatively with another sample taken in 2018 and among other demographic groups. The results revealed significant differences in several TPACK components (TK, PK, PCK, TCK, and TPK) of teachers. It is concluded that teachers in pandemic context self-perceive themselves with greater technological knowledge, but less pedagogical and content knowledge than teachers in pre-pandemic context, not coinciding with the curricular needs in this period, where greater content and pedagogical management is needed to contextualize learning. © 2022 Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. ABSTRACT

Introduction: The inclusion of non-invasive ventilatory support systems in the management of ARDS in adults during the current pandemic, has been a lifeline given the lack of resources in the current international health situation. Systems such as the high flow nasal cannula have proven not to be just a temporary ventilatory system while awaiting invasive mechanical ventilation, on the contrary it has been shown that the high flow nasal cannula is an effective therapy tool in ARDS. Objective: To provide an easy guideline for the management of high-flow cannulas in hospitalized patients with severe pneumonia due to ATS criteria secondary to SARS COV2-COVID 19. Materials and methods: This is a prospective, single-centre observational study, including 59 patients, all with a diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2-related pneumonia between January and April 2021. The patients were initially managed in an intermediate care unit with high nasal cannula flow (HFNC). Results: We were able to show that there is a statistically significant correlation between age > 65 years and respiratory rate ≥28 and mortality;likewise, between age > 50 years, NEWS > 6 and again a respiratory rate ≥28 with treatment failure. Conclusions: HFNC in respiratory failure related to coronavirus disease 2019 should become a viable management alternative, particularly in settings with limited access to intensive care unit resources, taking the indications into account and recognizing that a high percentage of patients who receive it can be successfully weaned without the need for invasive mechanical ventilation. © 2022 Asociación Colombiana de Medicina Crítica y Cuidado lntensivo
